As defining investment in basic construction one of the key tasks of the city, the leaders of Bac Giang city have directed implementation of the tasks and solutions to accelerate the investment disbursement for the projects in the medium-term public investment plan in the 2021-2026 period and 2024 while selecting contractors to carry out construction projects.

Officials of the Management Board for construction investment projects of Bac Giang city and contractor are supervising progress of the project building overpass from the southwestern urban area to Bac Giang city international logistics center.

Besides, the municipal standing Party Committee and the municipal people’s committee (MPC) maintain weekly and monthly meetings to review the project progress for timely surmounting difficulties and obstacles and fulfilling the plan.

The city defined 50 key construction projects among the 81 projects in 2024, most of which are investment projects in urban infrastructure development. Since early this year, the city has completed construction of 9 projects and met the schedule over 38 transition projects. After completion, the projects will make important contributions to stimulating socio-economic development of the city.

Remarkably, a number of projects have been quickly constructed and fulfilled the large volume, which are expected to exceed the plan including the overpass from the southwestern urban area to Bac Giang city international logistics center, the project building service roads and fences on Hanoi- Dong Dang railway and the project of the southwest main route connecting A Lu bridge to the end of Tan My commune.

Determining to fulfill the plan

Acting as an investor to many key construction projects, the Management Board for construction investment projects of Bac Giang city has regularly collaborated with investors to speed up construction projects and assign tasks for specific individual following the principle “clear persons, clear tasks, clear time limit”.

In line with urban and residential area development projects, many civil construction and traffic safety projects have been prioritized and accelerated, for instance, the project building service roads and fences on Hanoi- Dong Dang railway in the wards of Xuong Giang, Tran Nguyen Han and Ngo Quyen.

This project has been commenced since May 2023 and completed the items of building drainage ditch of the B400 road surface, wall and fence system, expanding the crossroad and building barriers at Km50+650 (reaching about 90 percent of the project volume). The project is expected to complete in December 2024.

Especially, the city has concentrating on accelerating 3 projects of constructing new buildings of Dong Thanh primary school, Dinh Tri and Dinh Ke pre-schools, striving to bring them into use in this academic year.

Despite the efforts and determination of the local party committee, government, competent agencies and related units, there have been some obstacles in implementation of the projects. Particularly, land clearance in some projects face numerous difficulties.

According to Dao Cong Hung, MPC Vice Chairman, leaders of the MPC have requested the divisions and units of the city, people’s committee of the wards and communes to inspect the ongoing projects which face difficulties in land clearance for ultimate resolution. In case the issues are beyond their jurisdiction, they should be timely reported to the MCP to ask for implementation policy by the provincial People’s Committee.

In addition, they were urged to communicate and publicize the land law 2024 and new regulations on land acquisition and compensation for land clearance especially the new points directly influencing the rights and obligations of land users.

The Management Board for construction investment projects of Bac Giang city was requested to direct contactors to reinforce human resources and equipment in line with taking advantage of favourable weather to speed up the construction progress. Besides, they need to supervise construction of the projects to strictly follow the designs and ensure the quality.

USAID-funded project helps increase opportunities for the disabled

Bac Giang focuses on building and putting Provincial Cultural and Exhibition Center project into use

BAC GIANG - The project to build the Cultural and Exhibition Center of Bac Giang province started on December 24, 2022 in Dinh Ke ward and Dinh Tri commune (Bac Giang city). It has a total construction area of more than 13,200 square meters, total investment of more than 540.7 billion VND (22.9 million USD) from the provincial budget. The consortium contractor expects to complete the entire project and hand it over to the investor in August 2024 as schedule.

Construction starts on final sub-project of North-South Expressway

Construction of the Huu Nghi-Chi Lang Expressway, the final sub-project of a mega project to build the eastern wing of the North-South Expressway, began at a ceremony in the northern border province of Lang Son on April 21, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending.

Vietnam, WB address bottlenecks in project implementation
