The event, held from July 30 to August 8, was co-organized by the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Bac Ninh’s sports delegation wins the overall team title.

A total of 224 athletes from 16 provinces and cities competed in 28 weight classes for both men and women, across two age groups — youth and teenage.

Bac Ninh sent 26 athletes, including 11 women and 15 men, and reaffirmed its dominance in this traditional sport. Thirteen of its athletes reached the finals across various weight classes.

The team won a total of 20 medals to secure first place overall, including seven golds. Gold medalists were Le Ngoc Tuong Mi (women’s 47kg), Tran Van Phuc (men’s 85kg), Ta Duc Phuong (men’s 41kg), Lang Thi Diu (women’s 65kg), Nguyen Xuan Mai (women’s 62kg), Vu Tien Dat (men’s 71kg) and Dang Xuan Truong (men’s 47kg). They also claimed six silver and seven bronze medals.

Thai Nguyen finished second with six golds, one silver and five bronzes, followed by Lao Cai in third place with four golds, one silver and one bronze.

With the top finish, Bac Ninh further affirmed its position as the country’s leading force in this ethnic sport, providing momentum for increased investment in athlete training and ambitions for higher achievements on larger stages.

According to organizers, this year’s tournament delivered high-quality performances, with many thrilling matches attracting spectators.

The event was professionally organized in line with regulations, helping promote the cultural value of this traditional sport and inspiring young people to engage in physical training.
