The championships took place from August 22 to September 2 attracting 100 players from sport delegations of Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh city, Bac Ninh and An Giang.

Chess players Do Thi Hong Loan and Nguyen Hong Anh from Bac Ninh delegation win gold medal at girls’ double standard chess.

The chess masters competed in the categories of rapid, blitz, super blitz and standard chess under the age groups of 11, 16 and 20 at the individual, men’s team and women’s team events.

The Bac Ninh sport delegation included 19 players competing in all categories. Thanks to great efforts, the players excellently won total 56 medals including 10 gold, 16 silver and 30 bronze medals, secured the runner-up position after the host Ho Chi Minh city.

This year tournament was impressive with the shining performances of many young chess talents from Bac Ninh province.

Vu Dao Bao Han left overwhelming impression when she claimed 3 gold medals at U11 girl’s individual standard, rapid and super blitz chess events. Besides, she and her teammate Dang Chau Anh won the gold medal at girls’ double rapid chess event.

Do Thi Hong Loan proved her mettle by clinching the U16 girls’ individual title at the standard chess event and together with Nguyen Hong Anh won the gold medal at girls’ double standard chess.

For men’s events, Nguyen Nam Hoang became the most outstanding face when he consecutively bagged 3 gold medals (men’s individual rapid chess, men’s individual blitz chess championship and U20 men’s individual super blitz chess).
