On the first day, Oanh dominated the women’s 5,000m race, finishing in 16 minutes 28.78 seconds ahead of seven other competitors, including notable runners such as Le Thi Tuyet of Dak Lak, Bui Thi Thu Ha of Thanh Hoa, and Pham Thi Hong Le of Gia Lai.

The victory reinforced her dominance in the event where she set a national record of 15 minutes 46.11 seconds at the Asian Championships in May.

The tournament has drawn more than 480 athletes from 32 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide, competing for 50 medal sets in men’s, women’s and relay events.

The Bac Ninh team fields nine athletes, including Pham Tien San, Hoang Viet Vi Ly, Son Tien Phat, Le Thuy Linh, Nguyen Van Bao, Vu Minh Thang, Nguyen Hai Yen and Pham Cong Dung.

On August 10, the second day of competition, Oanh extended her winning streak by securing the women’s 1,500m title, further confirming her status as Vietnam’s top middle- and long-distance runner.
