The project aims to meet the growing transportation demand, contributing to the optimal and sustainable restructuring of the transport market along the North-South corridor.

It aligns with the Party’s policies and orientations for transportation infrastructure investment, as outlined in the national development strategy under the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution and national planning schemes.

The high-speed railway is expected to foster regional and inter-regional connectivity, generate economic spillover effects and open up new economic development spaces. Additionally, it will help restructure urban areas and economic sectors, thereby enhancing the economy's competitiveness.

Moreover, the project is poised to drive the growth of railway and supporting industries, promoting sustainable, modern, and eco-friendly modes of transport. This will help reduce traffic accidents, mitigate environmental pollution and adapt to climate change while ensuring national defence-security.

Recognising the strategic importance of the project, the Politburo agreed to seek the Party Central Committee's approval of the investment policy before the Government presents it to the 15th National Assembly at its upcoming 8th session.

Nearly 34 million USD to build Cam Ly railway bridge

BAC GIANG - The Ministry of Transport has just approved for Cam Ly railway bridge project in Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province) on the Kep-Ha Long railway route with a total estimated investment of more than 796 billion VND (nearly 39 million USD) to separate the railway bridge and ensure safety. 

North-south high-speed railway to require 13,800 staff

The proposed north-south high-speed railway project would require around 13,880 people to operate by its scheduled opening date of 2040, according to the Vietnam Railways Corporation.
