Recruitment challenges

Ha Bac Export Garment Joint Stock Company is located in Hong Thai ward, Viet Yen township. The company has signed many new orders since late 2024; thus they need to recruit about 500 workers.

In order to ensure the production plan, the company hang 5 pig boards of recruitment notice at the company gate and some adjacent areas, at the same time posting recruitment notice on social networks.

Besides, the staff of human resource department went to residential areas and markets to deliver flyers to hunt for workers but it was hard to recruit enough workers.

Pearl Global Vietnam Company in Dinh Tri industrial cluster, Bac Giang city also wants to recruit 600 workers to expand its production scale, in which the company urgently needs 150 workers to start working in March.

This company submitted its recruitment demand to the provincial Employment Service Center to connect to labourers from different localities.

Besides, they encouraged their workers, who have worked for the company for years, to invite their relatives and friends to apply for job.

Improving working environment

The province is home to about 10,000 operating companies, which create jobs for more than 340,000 workers including over 100 garment companies with total 70,000 workers and a number of small companies in this field.

According to the provincial Employment Service Center, enterprises in the province need to recruit nearly 110,000 workers in 2025, of which garment and textile companies have the biggest demand at 20 percent, followed by electric and electronic sectors.

A number of companies have big demand for workers including Crystal Martin Vietnam Company Limited (in need of 6,000 workers), Bac Giang BGG Garment Corporation (in need of 500 workers) and Onechang Vina Company Limited (in need of 200 workers).

Worker recruitment is forecast to face more challenges in 2025 in the context of fierce competition among sectors and localities.

In order to deal with the current situation, enterprises should equip modern facilities to save labour force and ensure productivity while rearranging production lines to optimize every section.

Besides, they should pay attention to improving working environment and caring for workers to attract workers.

Recently, many garment enterprises have applied the method of recruitment attached to on-job training.

“After only nearly 1-month training, I can use the machine by myself, work at the production line and quickly adapt to the working environment. While we are learning to work, we are paid for meals and provided worker shuttle”, said Lang Thi Huong, a worker of Crystal Martin Vietnam Company Limited.

This method helps enterprises to ensure human resources, save time and training costs and guide workers to get familiar to the jobs. Workers are also disseminated labour rules and disciplines during the training.

In order to support garment enterprises to ease burden in worker recruitment, the provincial Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) will review and collaborate with related agencies to advise the provincial People’s Committee to make planning of vocational school networks to enhance training capacity, foster cooperation with enterprises for address-based and on-job training to supply workers meeting the market demand, according to Tran Van Ha, DOHA Vice Director.

The Department will direct the provincial Employment Service Center to hold job transaction sessions to timely supply human resources to garment companies.

Besides, enterprises should adjust recruitment requirements to give equal job opportunities for labourers in gender and age groups.
