State budget revenue surges, nears 30% of annual target
Vietnam’s state budget revenue had reached 574.4 trillion VND (22.5 billion USD) as of March 11, surging 38.2% year-on-year and achieving 29.2% of the annual target, the Ministry of Finance reported.
Central budget revenue stood at 28.04% of the target, while local budget revenue hit 30.46%.

By March 12, total revenue had climbed to 528.3 trillion VND, marking a 141.1% year-on-year increase, the highest recorded in the first two months of any year.
Mai Xuan Thanh, Director of the Department of Taxation under the Ministry of Finance, attributed the sharp rise to exceptional gains from banking surpluses, dividends, land-related income, and lottery proceeds.
Land revenue, while accounting for just 15.8% of total collections, posted the highest growth among all sources.
In contrast, revenue from import-export activities totaled 61.3 trillion VND, representing 14.9% of the annual target and 13.04% of the government’s projection. However, its growth remains sluggish and has yet to meet the government’s monthly target.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang called the early-year budget performance encouraging.
While spending in January was lower than the same period last year, February saw an upward shift, bringing total expenditures in the first two months to 293.8 trillion VND, equaling 11.5% of the budget estimate and rising 13.2% year-on-year.
Vietnam’s state budget revenue was estimated at 499.8 trillion VND (approximately 19.55 billion USD) in the first two months of 2025, reaching 25.4% of the projection and soaring 25.7% year-on-year.
A report by the e-commerce analytic platform Metric has shown that the total revenue of the five largest e-commerce platforms in Vietnam reached 318.9 trillion VND (12.6 billion USD) in 2024, 37.4% higher than 2023.
BAC GIANG - According to the Bac Giang Provincial Tax Department, 10 out of 16 budget revenues in January highly increased compared to the same period last year in Bac Giang.
BAC GIANG- The resolution of the 19th provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure set out the budget revenue target of over 54 trillion VND (2.1 billion USD) in the period from 2021 to 2025. To that end, competent authorities and localities in the province have highly concentrated on tax collection, thus the budget revenue surpassed some ten thousands of billions dongs against the set target for the whole period.
BAC GIANG - Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in January 2025 are estimated at over 6 trillion VND (about 250.7 million USD) in the northern province of Bac Giang, up 9.9% over the same period.
The Vietnam market contributed JPY12.5 billion (US$79 million) to the revenue of Japanese retailer Aeon Mall last year, the largest in ASEAN and third highest globally.
