Vietnamese students excel in mathematical skills, win big at int'l contest
Vietnamese students delivered exceptional performance and secured top honours at the 2024 UCMAS International Competition that took place in India from December 14-15.
The mental arithmetic intelligence contest drew 6,000 participants aged between 4 and 14 from 30 countries across the globe, with all of the 12 Vietnam students winning awards.

Particularly, Le Nguyen Thuy Duong and Nguyen Chan Hung from Hanoi, and Chuong Gia Khanh from Ho Chi Minh City claimed the championship titles.
The competition's demanding format required contestants to solve 200 arithmetic problems in just eight minutes, a process designed by UCMAS to test not only mathematical skills but also visual memory, concentration, and overall academic performance.
Speaking at the event, UCMAS CEO Alexan Wong said the competition has grown to be the largest and most impacful of its kind. It is inspiring to see students from around the world showcasing their creativity, visual memory and focus, the skills that are critical for their future success.
Since UCMAS Vietnam, part of an international network spanning over 80 countries, was set up in 2008, the country has consistently achieved high rankings in international competitions.
Vietnamese students will have their tuitions waived and receive €1,000 ($1,054) a month in aid if they study nursing in Germany, along with ample job opportunities after graduation.
BAC GIANG - On November 17, the Study Promotion Association in Bac Giang province and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. jointly awarded Samsung scholarships in 2024 to secondary and high school students in Bac Giang province who overcome difficult circumstances and achieve good academic performance.
BAC GIANG - On November 14, Keimyung University of Korea and Bac Giang branch of HANNA Trading and Service Joint Stock Company in Bac Giang city coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to award 20 scholarships to 12 graders in Bac Giang province.
The 2024 “SGC Sharing the Dream” scholarship programme was held in Hanoi on November 12 to award scholarships to students who have overcome adversity and excel academically.
Outstanding young scientists and female students in the fields of science and technology were honoured with the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award and the Female Student Award in Science and Technology at a ceremony held in Hanoi on the evening of November 8.
BAC GIANG - In November 2024, the Bac Giang Provincial Association for Education Promotion and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Company Limited plan to award 210 Samsung scholarships to disadvantaged secondary and high school students in Bac Giang province who have achieved good or excellent academic performance.
