Aeon is one of the world’s largest retail groups, operating eight shopping malls across Vietnam, including in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Hai Phong, Hue and Tay Ninh.

The company has also signed memoranda of understanding to explore new investment opportunities in several provinces, including Bac Ninh.

AeonMall is jointly developing a mixed-use project combining retail, office and tourism functions in Tan Tien ward, covering over 76,000 square meters with a total investment of nearly 4 trillion VND (about 175.8 million USD).

The project has completed land procedures and environmental impact assessments and is undergoing feasibility review. AeonMall Vietnam is also studying another investment project in Hap Linh ward.

At the meeting, AeonMall Vietnam General Director Nakagawa Tetsuyuki expressed deep gratitude to provincial leaders for their support, saying Bac Ninh’s consistent facilitation had helped the company make substantial progress.

The company proposed several measures to resolve remaining obstacles and accelerate implementation.

Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan thanked Aeon and Newland for choosing Bac Ninh as an investment destination, stressing that the province is striving to become a centrally governed city before 2030.

He said Bac Ninh prioritizes attracting high-quality service projects, particularly large-scale shopping centers that enhance urban growth. The local government, he noted, has held multiple meetings with investors to address difficulties and speed up project progress.

“The people of Bac Ninh have high expectations for Aeon’s presence,” Tuan said, adding that provincial authorities were committed to realizing the project soon.

He announced that the province would set a clear timeline and coordinate closely among departments to meet the shared target of officially breaking ground on December 19, 2025.

He also called on investors to expedite construction and aim to complete the project within just over a year after groundbreaking.
