Bac Ninh fighter Nguyen Duy Tuyen wins Pencak Silat gold at SEA Games 33
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh-born fighter Nguyen Duy Tuyen claimed the gold medal in the men’s 85–90 kg Pencak Silat event at the 33rd SEA Games on December 17, continuing his dominance in the regional martial arts scene.
Nguyen Duy Tuyen defeated Singapore’s Sheik Ferdous Bin Sheik Alaudd in the final, demonstrating superior experience and composure throughout the bout. After three rounds, the Vietnamese athlete secured a convincing 26–5 victory on points to take the gold medal.

The win marked Tuyen’s fifth SEA Games gold medal, further cementing his status as one of Southeast Asia’s leading Pencak Silat fighters in the 85–90 kg weight category. His latest triumph underscored his consistent form at major international competitions.
Earlier in 2025, he also captured the gold medal in the men’s 85–90 kg division at the Asian Pencak Silat Championships, reinforcing his position at the top of the sport both regionally and continentally.
As of December 17, athletes from Bac Ninh province have contributed a total of 10 medals to Vietnam’s overall tally at SEA Games 33, including five golds, two silvers and three bronzes.
The gold medals were won by Nguyen Thi Oanh in the women’s 5,000 metres, 10,000 metres and 3,000 metres steeplechase, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy in wushu and Nguyen Duy Tuyen in Pencak Silat.
