"Luc Ngan lychee" product rated 5-star OCOP standards
BAC GIANG - "Luc Ngan lychee" product of Hong Xuan Production and General Service Trading Cooperative (Cooperative) in Hong Giang commune, Luc Ngan district is one of 4 products that have just been rated 5-star standards under One Commune One Product programme (OCOP) by the Central Council for evaluating and classifying OCOP products (Council) in 2024 on June 25.
The 4 products included Luc Ngan lychee (Bac Giang); Royal Golden Dragon green bean cake (Hai Duong); frozen durian fruit (Ben Tre); complete seasoning (Thua Thien - Hue).

According to the Council's assessment, "Luc Ngan lychee" product scored over 90 points with high quality standards so it meets export requirements, especially from demanding markets such as the US and Russia.
The Cooperative has nearly 20 official members and more than 100 associate members. The entire lychee area is produced in line with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. In 2023, the Cooperative's lychee output reached more than 2,000 tonnes with favorable consumption. This is the first 5-star OCOP product in Bac Giang province.
According to Resolution No. 67/2023/NQ-HDND of Bac Giang province dated December 13, 2023 stipulating policies to encourage the development of OCOP products in the province during 2024-2025 period, products meeting 5-star OCOP standards will be supported 300 million VND.

BAC GIANG – So far, Bac Giang has consumed about 35 out of 50,000 tonnes of early ripening lychees, reported the Department of Industry and Trade. The products are purchased at high prices, bringing great income to gardeners.
BAC GIANG - Thanks to active introduction and promotion, the number of international visitors coming to experience the ripening lychee season in Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) this year has increased sharply.
BAC GIANG – Tan Moc commune is a big growing area of early ripening lychee in Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) with total area of nearly 267 hectares. Recently, the garderners have promptly harvested the fruits. Many visitors near and far have flocked to enjoy tour to lychee orchards laden with fruits.
BAC GIANG – To date, Bac Giang province has consumed more than 20,000 tonnes of lychees, of which more than 14,000 tonnes were sold at domestic market and the rest was exported to China, Southeast Asia, Europe, United States, Australia and Japan.
Aeon Global Merchandising Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese retailer AEON Group, plans to export about 30 tonnes of fresh lychees to Japan this year, up 120% from last year’s figure, according to the company’s representative.
BAC GIANG – It is now harvest season of Bac Giang lychee. Although this year's output has decreased compared to last year, due to the short harvest time, gardeners and traders need to mobilize more seasonal workers. Many people can earn from a few hundred thousand VND to millions of VND every day from harvesting, packing, loading and unloading, weighing and choosing the fruits.
