Vietnam cruise to semi-finals
On the evening of December 21, at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho, Vietnam excellently defeated Myanmar 5-0 in their final match of Group B of the 2024 ASEAN Championship, officially winning a ticket to the semi-finals as the top team of the group.
In the first half, Vietnam quickly dominated the game, controlled the ball well and continuously put pressure on Myanmar. Xuan Son was the main trigger with a series of dangerous situations.

Entering the second half, Vietnam maintained great pressure and quickly opened the scoring in the 48th minute. From Xuan Son’s precise assist, Bui Vi Hao finished close to the goal, bringing an important goal for the home team.
Only 6 minutes later, Vi Hao created a favourable pass for Xuan Son to make a neat shot, raising the score to 2-0. With a two-goal advantage, Vietnam played with increasing excitement.
In the 78th minute, Quang Hai raised the score to 3-0. The final minutes of the match were an explosive performance by Vietnam's strikers.
In the 90th minute, Xuan Son continued to leave his mark when he received a pass from Tien Linh and finished accurately, raising the score to 4-0. Just one minute later, Xuan Son again showed his excellent tactical vision when he created an assist for Tien Linh to seal the 5-0 victory.
The convincing 5-0 victory over Myanmar helped Vietnam top Group B, scoring 12 goals and conceding none, affirming their absolute strength.
The opponents of coach Kim Sang Sik and his team in the semi-finals will be Singapore, the second team in Group A. The semi-final between Vietnam and Singapore will take place on December 25.
