Bac Giang develops certification brand for Tan Yen bamboo shoots
BAC GIANG - On February 26, the Department of Science and Technology of Bac Giang province held a meeting of the advisory council to select units to carry out provincial-level science and technology tasks in 2025 on "Registering protection, management and supporting the development of certification brand for bamboo shoot products of Tan Yen district (Bac Giang)".
The unit registered to select and perform the task was Aliat Law Firm (Ho Chi Minh City); the implementation period is from April 2025 to April 2027 with an estimated budget of 1 billion VND (over 42,100 USD).

The project targets to successfully register for protection of the certification brand for bamboo shoot products of Tan Yen district; build a system of documents to manage certification brand, traceability, and a system of brand identification tools; build a model for managing certification brand; and improve the capacity to exploit and use the brand for organizations and individuals involved in the production and trading of this product.
Currently, Tan Yen district has more than 85 hectares of bamboo shoots. The locality strives to increase the scale to 120 hectares by 2030 mostly in the communes of Ngoc Chau, Cao Xa, Ngoc Ly and Lien Chung.
Fresh bamboo shoot is rated four star title under One Commune One Product programme and being processed into dried bamboo shoots and bamboo shoots soaked in chili with convenient consumption. People can earn 500-600 million VND per hectare per year.
It is important to select the unit to implement this provincial-level scientific and technological research project in line with the needs and desires of the locality, contributing to affirming the quality of bamboo shoots; helping consumers grasp the necessary information about the product; creating trust for customers; improving production and business efficiency.
Vietnam is projected to import an additional 6 million tonnes of corn and 1.7 million tones of soybean meal by 2034, representing 7% of global corn imports and 9% of global soybean meal imports.
BAC GIANG - In 2025, Luc Ngan district of Bac Giang province has more than 10,000 hectares of lychee of all kinds, including over 2,000 hectares of early ripening lychees and remaining of main crop. The area of lychee produced according to VietGAP standards is nearly 7,000 hectares.
Vietnam is expected to export over 7.5 million tonnes of rice in 2025, mainly from the Mekong Delta, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Vietnam aims to have approximately one million hectares of forest certified for sustainable forest management in accordance with international standards by 2030, under the forestry development strategy for 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050.
To date, Bac Giang has developed 479 specialised production zones. These include over 15,000 hectares dedicated to lychee production meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards in Luc Ngan, Tan Yen, and Luc Nam.
In 2024, Vietnam’s major agricultural export markets will continue to be the US, China, Japan, and the European Union (EU). With the target of agricultural, forestry, and fishery export turnover in 2025 reaching about 65 billion USD, maintaining and creating growth momentum in key markets is an important requirement.
