Bac Giang well prepares conditions for production and consumption of lychee and key agricultural products
BAC GIANG - The Chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has just issued an Official Dispatch on well preparing conditions to serve production and promote consumption of lychee and other key agricultural products of Bac Giang province in 2025.
Accordingly, the PPC Chairman requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to forecast the situation of pests and diseases, closely follow the weather situation, provide technical guidance on cultivation and care of lychees to ensure output, high quality and safety to meet domestic and foreign consumption.

The Department was urged to review, inspect, evaluate, monitor and strictly manage existing growing area codes; promptly recommend regulations on management and use of growing area codes for export to markets; make plans to develop and expand new growing area codes for export to potential and demanding markets in accordance with practical needs.
Local departments, branches and localities should proactively follow production instructions, provide instructions to well implement and comply with production and post-harvest preservation processes to ensure improved productivity, quality and food safety.
Also, all must well prepare conditions and auxiliary items to serve the production, processing and consumption of lychees and other agricultural products of the province.
BAC GIANG - In 2025, Luc Ngan district of Bac Giang province has more than 10,000 hectares of lychee of all kinds, including over 2,000 hectares of early ripening lychees and remaining of main crop. The area of lychee produced according to VietGAP standards is nearly 7,000 hectares.
BAC GIANG – Lychee orchards in Bac Giang province are entering the flowering stage, with a high predicted flowering rate, signaling a promising harvest. The agricultural sector and local authorities are working hard to guide farmers in caring for their orchards to ensure high yields and meet market demands.
Australian dragon egg lychee, a variety that doubles or triples Vietnam traditional lychee in size, is being sold at VND1.4 million (US$55) per kilogram.

Vietnam’s exports of lychee to China saw their sharpest decline to date in the first half of 2024, plummeting nearly 62% from a year ago to US$14.5 million.
BAC GIANG - Compared to previous years, Bac Giang’s lychee output in 2024 decreased sharply but established the highest price level ever, contributing to increase the revenue from lychees. From this result, the northern province gains more experience in directing production and promoting consumption for the following lychee seasons.
