Leaders of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh discuss merging 2 provinces
BAC GIANG- At a press conference informing the socio-economic performance of Bac Giang province in the first quarter 2025, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Van Phuong stated that the provincial Party Committee’ Standing Committees of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces had a meeting to discuss the merger of the two provinces.
He added the provincial Party Committee’ Standing Committees of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces agreed to establish the task forces to facilitate the merger, including reviewing the policies, facilities and personnel of both provinces.

The Department of Home Affairs of Bac Giang province advised the provincial Party Committee to establish the steering committee to make detailed implementation plan with specific timelines.
Of which, the deadline to submit the documentation for arranging provincial administrative units is before May 1 and collecting voters’ opinions must be done as of April 20.
At the Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee wrapped up on April 12, 2025, the Party Central Committee proposed merging Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, with the merged entity to be named Bac Ninh province and the political-administrative center located in the current Bac Giang province.
General Secretary To Lam signed Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee on April 12, 2025, on restructuring the country’s provincial-level administrative units to 34 in total, including 28 provinces and six centrally-run cities.
The public had greater satisfaction with the administrative services provided by state agencies in 2024, heard a report presented at the Government’s monthly meeting and conference with local authorities on April 6 to evaluate the socio-economic development situation in March and the first quarter.
BAC GIANG- On April 2, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Van Thinh chaired a working session with the provincial Industrial Zones Authority on implementation of tasks in the first 3 months and the key tasks until the end of 2025.
BAC GIANG- Together with the whole nation, the newly established and merged agencies and units in northern province of Bac Giang have quickly come into stable operation since March 1, ensuring smooth and effective performance.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has finalised a draft resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on administrative unit arrangements and submitted it to the Ministry of Justice for appraisal.
