According to the Michelin Guide, food has always been central to travel, shaping how people connect with cultures and destinations across the world.

The growing array of restaurants demonstrates how food plays a key role in bringing travellers closer to locals, immersing them in the history and traditions of a place.

Da Nang’s food scene has been gaining increasing attention from both domestic and international media and tourists since the Michelin Guide’s debut in this coastal city in June 2024.

With its seaside location, Da Nang boasts a diverse culinary scene centred around seafood, including prawns, squid, clams and snails.

Restaurants and eateries in the city range from street-side stalls to modern dining establishments, catering to all tastes and budgets, from affordable meals to fine dining experiences.

Furthermore, Da Nang is located near the ancient town of Hoi An — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the former imperial city of Hue, both of which are renowned for their architecture, culture and cuisine.

Currently, there are 36 restaurants and eateries in Da Nang featured in the Michelin Guide, including 16 Bib Gourmands (Michelin’s best-value picks) and one One-Star restaurant.

Among the must-try dishes in Da Nang, the Michelin Guide recommends “mi quang” and “bun cha ca”.

Mi quang is a signature dish of central Vietnam featuring flat rice noodles made from a blend of rice flour and yellow egg noodles.

The dish is served with a small amount of intensely flavoured broth and fragrant meat. It is typically accompanied by lime, chilli, and an assortment of fresh greens such as banana blossom, lettuce, coriander and spring onions.

Mi quang comes in various versions depending on the main protein, including prawn and pork, chicken, frog, or fish. It is a versatile dish suitable for any meal of the day.

Meanwhile, bun cha ca is a noodle soup with a sweet and sour broth made from fish bones. Diners can opt for traditional fishcakes or add tuna or mackerel for variety.

Bun cha ca is widely available throughout Da Nang, with well-known eateries concentrated along streets such as Nguyen Chi Thanh and Le Hong Phong.

Da Nang’s inclusion in the prestigious Michelin Guide list will further promote the city’s culinary scene while more broadly spreading Vietnamese cuisine to food lovers and culture explorers worldwide.

Previously, the US-based travel website Travel Off Path also highlighted Da Nang and Hoi An among the top five most budget-friendly destinations in Asia for digital nomads in 2025.
